Kochi: Actor Soubin Shahir, his father Babu Shahir and producer Shawn Antony appeared before Maradu Police on Monday for interrogation in connection with a financial cheating case.

The complaint against them filed by Alappuzha-based businessman Siraj Valiyaveettil alleges that they refused to extend the principal amount and profit share to him for the money invested in the production of the hit Malayalam movie ‘Manjummel Boys'.

They appeared before the police after the Kerala high court granted them anticipatory bail last month. They left the station in the afternoon. The trio are partners of Parava Films, which produced the film.

Siraj filed a complaint against them, and a case was registered on April 23, 2024, on charges of forgery and cheating. He stated that he invested Rs 7 crore for the film after the producers promised him a 40% share of the profits.

Despite the film's massive success, the producers denied him the profit as per agreement. Siraj stated in the complaint that the producers owe him Rs 47 crore, which included the principal amount along with the profit share. Siraj produced documents, including bank transactions, to the investigation team. Parava Films claimed the film garnered Rs 200 crore.
