After feedback on cell, 5 cops face action for seeking bribes in Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad: A feedback cell has been established for applicants to provide feedback on police conduct and transparency during passport verification, character verification, tenant verification and filing police complaints for FIRs. As per records, a total of 25,191 cases were processed from May 1 to June 15, of which only five complaints were made against cops. Of the five reported incidents, one officer has since been suspended, one was sent to police line, while enquiries have been initiated against the remaining three.
DCP (trans-Hindon) Nimish Patil told TOI that the feedback cell was formed on May 1, and four police personnel have been deployed. These officers work to take feedback from the public after passport verification, character verification, tenant verification, and the filing of FIRs. On a daily basis, officers in the cell receive feedback from around 550 members of the public.
"We are taking action against those officers whose complaints were made by the public during feedback. So far, the public made complaints of bribes during verification work by officers, and action was already taken against them," the DCP said.
