Thunderstorms, lightning likely in parts of Chhattisgarh: IMD issues nowcast alert
RAIPUR: India Meteorological Centre has issued a nowcast alert for several districts of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, warning of thunderstorm activity, lightning, and moderate rain in parts of the state.
According to the update, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and sudden strong winds (30–40 km/h), along with moderate rainfall, are very likely in the districts of Dhamtari, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Raipur, Durg, and Bemetara.
Additionally, light rain is expected in a broader swath of the state, including Bijapur, Dantewada, Bastar, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Korba, Jashpur, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Kabirdham, Mungeli, Surguja, and Surajpur.
The weather department has categorized this as a “Be Prepared” level advisory for the areas likely to receive thunderstorms and lightning. Citizens are advised to take precautions, avoid open fields during lightning activity, and stay updated on the evolving conditions.
