Two held with 425 kg ganja in Mirzapur

Varanasi: A joint team of Lalganj police and special operation group in Mirzapur district arrested two smugglers with a consignment of 425 kg of ganja near Rajapur on Thursday.

Mirzapur SP Somen Barma said that on a tip-off, Lalganj police and SOG launched a checking drive on Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway, when they intercepted a container truck near Rajapur turning.

Police arrested two smugglers, Chandramani Nayak and Jogendra Nayak of Ganjam in Odisha, after recovering 424.7 kgs of ganja from them.It was concealed in a cavity made with plywood behind the driver's seat. Police also seized the truck. During initial interrogation, the accused divulged that they were taking the ganja to deliver it in Prayagraj district. tnn
