AP resident docs demand stipend hike
Visakhapatnam: AP Junior Doctors’ Association (APJUDA) appealed to the government to revise the stipend for the super specialty resident doctors at various medical colleges in the state.
It may be recalled that the Telangana government on Saturday announced a 15 per cent hike in stipend for house surgeons, PG doctors and senior residents.
Dr Mohammad Jahangir, urology resident, Andhra Medical College, APJUDA, said that there is a gross discrepancy in the stipend paid to Super speciality residents in AP. He said that the stipend for them is only 5,700 whereas as the super speciality doctors in Telangana are paid 1.01 lakh. Many of the super speciality residents are married and have children too and are still dependent on their parents, he added. We have faith in CM Jagan led government and we are hoping that the governmentwill hike the stipend for super specialty resident doctors on par or more,” Dr Jahangir added.
