Haryana: Yamunanagar man dies of Covid-19 in Dubai, his parents seek help from government

YAMUNANAGAR: A man of a village in Yamunanagar district reportedly died of Covid-19 in the first week of May in Dubai, informed his parents.

The deceased has been identified as Balram Pal (35) of Gundiana village of Yamunanagar district.

Balram’s father Sher Singh who lives in Gundiana village said, "My son Balram had been living in Dubai for several years and worked as an assistant in a laboratory.

He came to meet us at our home on Diwali in 2019, following he had returned back to Dubai on January 21, 2020. We talked to him on a phone call last on April 25 when he had told us that he was suffering from pneumonia and admitted to a hospital. After that, we attempted to call him several times but his mobile number was not reachable.”

On May 22, Balram’s phone number became functional and we were told by the hospital authorities that he had died of Covid-19 and his body was already cremated there.

"Balram died on May 4, but neither the United Arab Emirates government, nor the hospital authority informed us about it. Neither did we receive any information from the Indian authorities about my son. Balram was Class XII pass but he had passed a course in medical line during his stay in Dubai," said Sher Singh.

"Balram was married in 2014 and he has a 4-year-old daughter. We had sent him to Dubai after borrowing money, which is yet to be returned back. I and my wife are senior citizens of about 60-year-old and we are unable to run the livelihood of the family at this stage. Therefore, the Indian, as well as Haryana government, should help financially to the widow of the deceased and their 4-year-old daughter," further added Sher Singh.
