How to Get All Endings in The Alters

Hero Image
In The Alters, every choice matters. Jan Dolski and his alternate selves are saved or lost amidst decisions becoming whirlpools in the sea of an intensely complicated plot: from how materials are collected to whom you choose as your suspect before the court, there are many paths to several endings, some of hopeful nature and others chilling. Here are the steps to earn all possible outcomes and see each ending.

Rapidium Factor: Collecting for the Future

Your first real impact on the ending is how much Rapidium you collect. You may create up to five Rapidium Arks , which are considered the safest way of transporting the unstable substance back to Earth. The more Arks, the better the global outcome—reduction in the food crisis and advancement in science, hence. Key to note, the use of Rapidium is dictated by whom you trust.

  • Minimum 3 Arks: Lucas will be required to support you later.
  • 5 Arks + Lucas' support: The resource will be used in a very humanitarian manner.

Choosing Sides: Maxwell or Agatha

The second half of the game bifurcates depending on your choice to keep the Alters hidden or join forces with Lena and reveal the truth.

  • Maxwell Path: Secrecy comes as a priority. Your Alters are turned into test subjects, while Jan continues under perfection.
  • Agatha Path: Corporate interests dominate. Jan becomes the face of propaganda, the Alters vanish, and Lena cuts ties.
The Sabotage Route: Saving the Alters

To first free the Alters, one must either outwit or neutralize the rescue team. Intent on doing this, one must prepare such tools as:

  • Explosives: Quick, violent, and stretch to charges of murder.
  • Sleeping Gas: Non-lethal but long in accumulation.
  • Autopilot or RAT:
Dictate whether Lucas can take credit for you or not.
Sabotaging the mission earns Jan a criminal status but frees the Alters and possibly gifts a more ethical distribution of Rapidium.

Lucas’ Side: Friend or FoeWinning over Lucas creates very different endings. He will help you get a shorter sentence and distribute Rapidium more fairly, but if you don't have his help, you'll have to bear the whole burden alone.

  • With Lucas: He testifies in your favour.
  • Without Lucas: You're totally accountable for hijacking the ship.

The Botanist Twist: Switching Places

The Botanist Alter is a late-game wildcard who can switch places with Jan. If you accept his offer, he takes the fall, with Lena later unearthing the truth. It's a bittersweet resolution questioning identity and sacrifice.

You need multiple playthroughs, with every one leaning towards different morals, scientific, and emotional choices to see all the endings.
