The Kansas City Chiefs are coming into the spotlight of their offseason as their 2025 mandatory minicamp starts on Tuesday, June 17. As the Organized Team Activities (OTAs) conclude and contract issues loom large—particularly over star right guard Trey Smith—the Super Bowl favorites are laying the foundation for another high-expectation campaign. Fans can anticipate position battles, the development of rookies, and full-squad preparations before the start of preseason.
Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 minicamp begins June 17, with training camp and preseason games to follow
With OTAs wrapping up on June 14, the Kansas City Chiefs are now looking ahead to their mandatory minicamp, starting June 17 at their practice facility. It's the beginning of full-squad attendance, with all 91 members of the preseason roster scheduled to show up. It's required attendance, and the NFL no longer has teams waiving fines on veterans who miss these sessions without having approved absences.
Among the situations worth keeping an eye on is the status of Trey Smith's contract. If the veteran right guard does not report without just cause, he may be fined $104,768 in three days—$17,462 on the first day, $34,925 on the second day, and $52,381 on the third day.
In the meantime, July 16 is the deadline to renegotiate restricted free agent tenders, but chances are the Chiefs won't be making any changes to the offers made to Nazeeh Johnson and Jack Cochrane, who both received the $3.3 million first-round tender.
