Watch: Ravindra Jadeja takes fine catch to dismiss AB de Villiers

NEW DELHI: After being given a life by Imran Tahir, Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman AB de Villiers failed to capitalise on the chance as he got out off the very next delivery with Ravindra Jadeja holding a stunning catch during the first match of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League ( IPL ) against Chennai Super Kings .

IPL Schedule

RCB got off to a horrible start after being asked to bat by CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. de Villiers walked into bat to bail RCB out after they were reduced to 28/2 in 5.2 overs.

But the retired South African batsman's bid to revive RCB innings yielded no result as he dismissed for just 9. de Villiers was first dropped by Tahir at square leg and off the very next ball was caught by Jadeja, who dived forward to grab a fine catch at mid-wicket boundary.

On the match front, Harbhajan Singh rocked the top-order with a three-wicket burst as Chennai Super Kings shot out Royal Challengers Bangalore for a paltry 70 in 17.1 overs. Once Harbhajan had wreaked havoc, Imran Tahir (3/9 in 3 overs) tormented RCB even more with his traditional leg-breaks to kill the contest in the first half.
