Rourkela: Twelve wagons of a freight train carrying dolomite stones derailed near the Upper Market area of Biramitrapur in Sundargarh district on Saturday afternoon, railway officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The train, operated by Bisra Stone Lime (BSL), was transporting dolomite stones from Kapilas railway siding to Durgapur when it went off the tracks around 12.45pm. Railway officials, including the station master of Biramitrapur and maintenance personnel from Bondamunda railway, rushed to the scene. Local police were also present at the site.

A relief train was immediately dispatched to assist with recovery operations. While the exact cause is under investigation, sources familiar with the matter indicated that poor track conditions might have contributed to the incident. "A high-level inquiry into the derailment has been initiated, and restoration work is in progress," said Deepak Kumar, divisional commercial manager, Chakradharpur division. Efforts are underway to restore normal services along the affected route.
