NEW DELHI: Six women narrowly escaped death after being swept away by a sudden surge of water at the Languriya hill waterfall in Bihar’s Gaya district. The video of the incident, which is now going viral on social media, shows how the six women, who were engulfed by the sudden surge of water around them, tried to survive as villagers rushed to their aid.

One of the women initially saved herself by crossing the river and clinging to a rock. Three other women tried to follow suit, but were swept away by the gush of water. Eyewitnesses appeared helpless as the water level kept increasing with each passing minute.

As the situation turned grim, the villagers came to rescue and pulled the women out from the water just in time, as they inched closer to what looked like a steep drop. The fifth woman was also saved from the other side of the waterfall.

Miraculously, the sixth woman, who was stuck in the middle of the waterfall, was also saved by the locals. According to officials, one of the women was undergoing treatment in a hospital as she had injured herself after a collision with a rock.

Social media users voiced concerns over the risks of visiting water bodies during the monsoon, with one user commenting, “During monsoon people should avoid waterfalls,” while another user added, “ (Jab roz barish ho rahi hai to kue ja rahe. Pahari nadi ko majak na samjhe.)” Why are you going (there) while it rains every day. Do not take a hillstream lightly.

Another user commented, “ (Khaaskar monsoon ke dauran, paani ka star achanak bad sakta hai, isiliye savdhani barte)” Especially during monsoons, the water levels can increase suddenly, that is why it is important to practice caution.
