B'luru: Man prints fake currency in hotel room, arrested
Bengaluru: A man who printed counterfeit currency notes inside a hotel room was arrested by Commercial Street police after the hotel staff grew suspicious and reported him.
The accused has been identified as Krish Mali (23), the son of a businessman. According to police, Krish had left home following a quarrel and booked a room online at a hotel in Tasker Town.
Krish checked into the hotel on June 1. After running out of money during his stay, he allegedly devised a plan to print fake currency notes for his expenses. He purchased a printer and scanner and brought the equipment into his hotel room, where he began producing fake Rs 500 denomination notes using color xerox techniques.
On June 7, while checking out of the hotel, Krish reportedly paid Rs 3,000 using fake currency. At first, hotel staff assumed the notes were genuine, but their suspicions grew soon after. Upon checking the room, they discovered evidence of counterfeiting activity and reported it to the police.
A case was registered and Krish was taken into custody.
Fake notes found in hotel waste
Interestingly, on the day of his checkout, the hotel housekeeping staff noticed some suspicious-looking notes in the trash. The notes were spotted while segregating the hotel’s waste. The workers immediately informed the hotel manager, who re-examined the notes Krish had paid with and confirmed they were counterfeit.
Further inspection of the room revealed bundles of blank white paper and shredded fake notes, shocking the hotel staff. The manager then filed a complaint with the Commercial Street police, leading to Krish’s arrest.
