Kalaburagi: Karnataka’s Law Minister H.K. Patil said that the state government has prepared a draft bill for implementing a new law to manage crowds and prevent stampede incidents. The move follows the recent stampede in Bengaluru, which triggered calls for better crowd control mechanisms.

Speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi, the minister said that the government is taking serious steps to ensure such tragedies do not repeat. “There have been multiple incidents in the past caused by overcrowding. To address this, we have drafted a special law aimed at regulating public gatherings and ensuring safety,” he said.

The draft will soon be presented before the state cabinet. If approved, the new law will be implemented without delay, Patil added.

He also stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already been consulted regarding the draft.

Responding to opposition demands for the Chief Minister’s resignation over the stampede, Patil dismissed such calls as inappropriate. “The incident was accidental, and a probe is already underway. The government is committed to ensuring that the guilty are punished. There is no attempt to shield anyone involved,” he clarified.
