Madikeri: Schools, colleges shut in Kodagu on July 17 due to heavy rain; orange alert in effect

Madikeri: Owing to continuous heavy rain across Kodagu district, the Deputy Commissioner has declared a holiday for anganwadis, primary and high schools, and pre-university colleges on Wednesday (July 17).

An orange alert has been issued for two days as a precautionary measure due to intense rainfall. In Madikeri taluk, strong winds accompanied by heavy rain have been reported.

The source region of river Cauvery, Talacauvery and Bhagamandala areas, is also witnessing heavy rain, leading to a rise in river water levels. The weather in Madikeri remains foggy, windy, and cold, causing inconvenience to residents and students.

Several areas in the district continue to receive steady rainfall, with disruptions reported in rural areas as well.
