Low depression in Bay of Bengal likely to intensify in the net two days - MET




The meteorology officials inform that a well marked low pressure created over the northern part of Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify in the upcoming days.


Due to this, North Bengal to receive light to moderate rainfall on 4th and 5th of August.

Darjeeling, Kalimpong , Alipurduar , Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar to receive light to moderate rainfall on Tuesday. Whereas, Malda and North and South Dinajpur to receive light showers on Wednesday.

Thunderstorm with lightning and light to moderate rainfall likely to continue over some parts of Kolkata, North  & South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hoogly and Nadia districts of  West Bengal during next 2-3 hours on Tuesday.  Birbhum , East and West Midnapore, North and South 24pgs ,Howrah and Hoogly will continue to receive heavy rainfall for the next two days.

Districts of Bakura, parts of Midnapore to receive heavy rainfall on Wednesday, 5th of August.


The city of Kolkata to observe generally cloudy sky for both Tuesday and Wednesday. A few spells of rain or thundershower with a spell of heavy shower in some areas for both 4th and 5th of August.

Maximum and Minimum Temperature most likely be  around  34   ˚C   and  27 ˚C respectively.

The MET officials have issued a warning for fishermen to halt venturing out for  the next 48 hours.
