83k MSRTC staffers in Mumbai to get paid a day prior to Ganeshotsav

Mumbai: Transport minister and MSRTC chairman Pratap Sarnaik on Monday said that Aug's salary for 83,000 state transport bus corporation employees will be paid a day before the Ganesh festival, similar to other state govt staffers.

Sarnaik said that ST employees' salary is usually paid between the 7th and 10th of the month. However, since the Ganpati festival falls at the end of Aug this year, their festive joy should not be dampened merely due to salary issues. He added that a request was also made to the state govt to release the reimbursement amount for various ST concessions early.

Accordingly, a govt decision in this regard was issued on Monday, stating that Aug's salary will be credited to the bank accounts of all ST employees before the festival.
