After 7 yrs, UPPSC to recruit 7,466 LT Grade asst teachers
Prayagraj: After a gap of seven years, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) will begin recruitment process for 7,466 LT Grade assistant teachers in government secondary schools from July 28, 2025. The last such recruitment drive was in March 2018.
UPPSC secretary Ashok Kumar said for the first time, the selection process will be conducted in two stages: preliminary and main examinations.
"Candidates can submit their application fee and complete the online application process by Aug 28. The deadline for corrections in the application form and resolution of fee-related issues is Sep 4," Kumar said.
Of the 7,466 posts, 4,860 are for male candidates, 2,525 for female and 81 are reserved under the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities. However, the commission has clarified that these numbers may be revised depending on administrative needs and circumstances.
The official advertisement and detailed notification will be published on July 28 on the commission's official website. It will include details such as the application procedure, exam pattern and syllabus, caste certificate formats, reservation norms, age relaxation criteria and number of subjects. Eligible candidates must be at least 21 years of age and not more than 40 years as of July 1, 2025.
The recruitment process faced delays due to confusion over equivalent qualifications and reservation norms. However, after the release of a new eligibility rulebook — which removed the term "equivalent qualification" — the eligibility controversy was resolved. Subject-wise reservation details were also finalised, enabling the directorate of secondary education to resend the recruitment proposal, which the commission has now approved.
In the 2018 recruitment, the recruitment was done on a single objective-type examination where selection was purely based on marks scored.
In the changed policy, the preliminary exam will now serve as a screening test, comprising multiple-choice questions, and only shortlisted candidates will proceed to the main examination which will determine the final selection.
