Ammonia leakage from factory in Jalandhar, 35 workers evacuated
Jalandhar: In an incident of ammonia gas leakage from a factory in the Sports and Surgical Complex on Monday evening, around 35 workers were safely evacuated. The fire brigade reached the site quickly after the leakage was reported.
Deputy commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal said that gas leaked from the safety release valve at Metro Milk Products . He said that the fire brigade evacuated 35 workers through the emergency exit. The situation was brought under control within an hour of the incident.
He added that to prevent further leakage of gas, a special team was called from Verka Milk Plant. This team shut down the pressure lines of the air compressor, and by late evening, the situation was completely under control.
