Five illegal B'deshi immigrants, including minor, apprehended in Palam Village

New Delhi: Five illegal Bangladeshi immigrants — two men, two women, and a minor boy — were apprehended by Delhi Police in the Palam Village area of southwest Delhi on July 13.

According to police, they acted on a tip-off regarding illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing in Palam Village. Upon arrival, police asked the individuals for identification documents and conducted an inquiry.

The individuals were identified as Akash (26) from Dhaka; Chamili Khatun (26), Mohd Nahim (27), Halima Begum (40), and a 13-year-old minor boy, all from the Kurigram district in Bangladesh.

DCP (southwest) Amit Goel said, "During questioning, they failed to produce valid documents and admitted to entering India illegally in 2017. They only possessed photocopies of Bangladeshi documents."

"The group had been working in brick kilns in Kosli, Haryana, but after losing their jobs, they came to Delhi seeking labor work," added DCP Goel.

Following their apprehension, steps for deportation were initiated through the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), New Delhi.

Separately, two illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were arrested in the Delhi Cantonment area on Monday. Earlier this month, on July 8, five more illegal Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended in southwest Delhi. On June 29, Delhi Police arrested 83 allegedly illegal Bangladeshi nationals, including 33 minors, across east Delhi.
