GCCI and GEC join hands to bridge industry-academia gap
Panaji: Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and Goa College of Engineering (GEC) have signed an MoU to explore ways to enhance industry-institute interaction through curriculum design and research collaborations. The two organisations will also identify areas where skill development is necessary and where internship and innovation-related activity, and entrepreneurship activity can be nurtured.
GCCI and GEC will collaboratively organise expert talks, field visits, and placement workshops for students to help train them on various theoretical aspects of topics as per the needs of industries. The MoU will also aid setting up of industry-supported laboratories.
“GCCI will provide opportunities for skill development, research projects, internships, innovation, and entrepreneurship-related activities. We will facilitate expert talks, field visits, and activities that enhance placement. Through this MoU, we will also identify areas that need training for industry employees and identify employees that need such training,” said a GCCI official.
GEC will identify and depute students to undergo activities like skill development, research projects, internships, innovation, and entrepreneurship-related activities. GEC will also depute faculty for consultancy assignments. The MoU will be valid for five years. Both GEC and GCCI have expressed an intent to set up laboratories in the state that are required by the manufacturing units. This collaboration could lead to support for such laboratories.
