HC to be moved to fill South Goa court posts
Colva: Alarmed by the growing pendency of cases, the South Goa Advocates Association has resolved to approach the high court, seeking urgent intervention over the acute shortage of judicial officers in South Goa’s trial courts.
At an extraordinary meeting on Saturday, the association decided to file a writ petition with the HC.
The association’s president, advocate Prasad Naik, said six of the ten trial courts in Margao are non-functional due to the absence of presiding officers.
“This judicial vacuum is having a crippling impact on the administration of justice,” Naik said.
The Margao court complex, which caters to the densely populated Salcete taluka, houses four senior civil judge courts and six junior civil judge courts.
However, one of the senior civil judge posts remains vacant, and the situation among the junior civil judges is dire — with only one of the six courts currently functional.
