Mumbai doctor jumps off Atal Setu; search operation underway
NAVI MUMBAI: A 32-year-old doctor practicing at JJ hospital has allegedly jumped into the sea from Atal Setu bridge on Monday late night.
The incident was reported to the Atal Setu control room at 9.43 pm an unidentified caller who saw a man jumping into the sea at 11.8 kms distance on the Mumbai lane.
The Ulwe police team reached the spot and found a Honda Amaze car parked on the bridge. The cops found an iPhone inside the car and contacted a caller on the iPhone, thus revealing the man's identity as Dr Omkar Kavitke, a resident of sector 20, Kalamboli.
The CCTV camera footage also confirmed the man jumping off the sea bridge, informed Arjun Rajne, senior inspector of Ulwe.
Inspector Rajne said, "For more than 12 hours, a search operation for the missing doctor is going on in the sea in the area where he has reportedly jumped."
