HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court recently restrained the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) from demolishing structures under construction on two acres of land at Pedda Amberpet, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, without following due legal process.

Justice B Vijaysen Reddy passed the directions in response to a petition filed by a couple claiming ownership of the said land.

The couple alleged that HYDRAA officials were threatening to demolish their structures despite having a sanctioned plan from HMDA. They further claimed that the officials were attempting to dispossess them of their land.

The couple argued that they took up construction on the said land for which HYDRAA issued notices to them, for which they duly responded.

However, without passing any orders on the reply, HYDRAA allegedly initiated action against them, violating their right to life and protection of property.

Meanwhile, HYDRAA's counsel informed the court that a notice had been issued on June 5, 2025, based on complaints of an illegal layout on the said land, asking the petitioners to furnish documents for verification.

The counsel further submitted that the agency would duly consider the petitioners' response and ensure a fair opportunity for a hearing.

After hearing both sides, the court disposed of the petition, directing HYDRAA not to interfere with or demolish the petitioners' property without following due process of law .
