Tuticorin: TNCC president K Selvaperunthagai on Saturday welcomed TVK leader Vijay's statement ruling out an alliance with the BJP, calling it a "welcome and firm stand."

Speaking to reporters after distributing party ID cards to cadres in Tuticorin, he said the BJP and RSS are desperately trying to gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu. "They are scrambling to find a space, and no one should give them an entry," he said.

On seat-sharing and alliance-related decisions, Selvaperunthagai said it is the All India Congress Committee (AICC) that will take the final call. "If any party is to join the alliance in Tamil Nadu, it is chief minister M K Stalin who will decide, as he leads the alliance in the state," he said.

He lauded the DMK govt for fulfilling over 90% of its poll promises. "The govt has been delivering on what people truly need. Even the remaining 10% of promises will be fulfilled," he said, adding that despite inheriting an empty treasury from the AIADMK, the govt managed state finances efficiently. He also highlighted the recovery of temple assets worth 4,000 crore and the consecration of more than 3,000 temples under the current regime.

Dismissing speculation about alliance talks with PMK, Selvaperunthagai clarified, "I did not call PMK leader Ramadoss for any alliance discussions. I only met him personally. The opposition is trying to create a rift within the INDIA alliance by spreading such rumours," he said.
