HYDERABAD: The Telangana Junior Doctors Association ( T JUDA ) on Friday condemned the suspension of 64 MBBS interns , who staged a protest over govt-mandated pending stipends, at the Chalmeda Anand Rao Medical College in Karimnagar.

In a notice, the college, a private medical institution, listed the names of 64 interns and stated that the action was based on a disciplinary committee's report. The students were suspended for a week - from July 3 to July 10.

Recently, students of several private medical colleges across the state voiced their concerns regarding the non-payment or below-par payment of monthly stipends. In a statement, the T-JUDA alleged that while the students were protesting peacefully, they were verbally abused, manhandled, and intimidated by a police officer on the campus premises.
