2026 MG Hector Facelift Launched With Big Price Cut & Tech Upgrades
MG India has rolled out another update for the first-generation Hector, introducing the 2026 facelift with a sharp reduction in prices and a handful of visual and technology upgrades. Starting at Rs 11.99 lakh ex-showroom, the revised pricing makes the SUV significantly more competitive in the midsize segment. While the overall design remains familiar, MG has focused on value, features and interior technology to strengthen the Hector’s appeal against newer rivals.
Aggressive Pricing Repositions The Hector
The biggest talking point of the 2026 MG Hector facelift is its revised pricing. The petrol range now starts at Rs 11.99 lakh, marking a substantial Rs 2.1 lakh drop compared to the outgoing model. Even the top-spec petrol variant is cheaper by up to Rs 1.77 lakh. The Hector Plus 7-seater begins at Rs 17.29 lakh, while prices for the 6-seater version are yet to be revealed. At present, MG has announced prices only for petrol variants, with diesel pricing scheduled for next year.Exterior Design Gets Minor But Noticeable Updates
The facelifted Hector retains its bold stance but receives subtle cosmetic changes. The large front grille remains unchanged in size, though the pattern has been updated with new honeycomb-style slats. The lower air dam has been redesigned, while the 18-inch alloy wheels and rear bumper also feature refreshed styling. Lighting elements, including the split headlamp setup and connected LED tail-lamps, have been carried over from the previous version.New Colour Options Added
MG has expanded the colour palette with the addition of Celadon Blue and Pearl White. These new shades join Aurora Silver, Starry Black and Glaze Red, taking the total number of colour options to five. The additions aim to give buyers more personalisation choices without altering the Hector’s core design language.Cabin Updates Focus On Technology And Comfort
Inside, the Hector continues to emphasise space and comfort. The five-seat version now gets a dual-tone Ice Grey interior, while the Hector Plus features a dual-tone tan cabin. The highlight remains the large 14-inch portrait-style touchscreen, which now supports MG’s iSwipe touch gesture control technology. This allows front occupants to control climate functions with two fingers and audio settings with three, reducing reliance on physical controls.Features List Remains Comprehensive
The feature list continues to be one of the Hector’s strengths. It includes a 7-inch digital driver display, front ventilated seats, six-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, PM 2.5 air filter, push-button start and a 360-degree camera. These features help the Hector remain competitive despite newer launches in the segment.Engine Options And Segment Rivals
There are no mechanical changes with the facelift. The petrol variants use a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 143hp and 250Nm, paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. The diesel version, expected to be announced next year, is likely to continue with the 2.0-litre engine delivering 170hp and 350Nm. In the market, the Hector will compete with the Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass, while the Hector Plus will rival the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO.Next Story
