Ather Energy has broadened its electric scooter portfolio with a value-driven update to its family-oriented Rizta series. The Rizta S now comes equipped with a larger 3.7kWh battery, bringing improved range and functionality to the popular scooter, while retaining a competitive price point. Priced at ₹1.37 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant undercuts the Z version with the same battery by ₹13,000, offering a balanced blend of practicality and affordability for urban commuters.

Bigger Battery, Longer Commutes

The most significant update in this new variant is the upgraded 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which offers a certified IDC range of up to 159 kilometres on a full charge. This makes it an ideal option for those seeking a longer daily ride range without frequent charging interruptions.

Despite the larger battery, the scooter retains the same 80 kmph top speed as its Z counterpart. This shows Ather’s intent to maintain consistent performance across variants while offering battery upgrades tailored to different customer needs.

Smart Savings by Dropping Premium Features

To offer the 3.7kWh battery at a lower price, the Rizta S has seen some feature modifications. Most notably, the touchscreen TFT display found in the higher-end Z variant has been replaced with a practical 7-inch DeepView LCD unit. While it may not be as advanced, the screen remains highly readable under sunlight and still supports essential digital functionality.

The scooter also continues to support features such as turn-by-turn navigation, emergency stop signals, auto hold, and a comprehensive ride information display. These elements ensure that essential rider conveniences are not compromised, despite the reduced price.

Suspension and Braking Setup Remains Strong

In terms of hardware, the new variant follows the familiar suspension layout used across the Rizta range. A telescopic front fork ensures smoother handling on pothole-riddled roads, while the rear is supported by a single coil spring shock absorber that enhances ride comfort for pillion riders.

Braking is handled by a 200mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear, backed by a combined braking system (CBS). This ensures stability during sudden stops, particularly on wet roads during monsoon months.

Enhanced Storage for Family Use

Ather continues to position the Rizta as a family-first scooter, and the S 3.7kWh variant sticks to this ethos. Riders benefit from a large 34-litre underseat storage compartment, ideal for groceries, helmets, and daily essentials. Additionally, the scooter offers a 22-litre front frunk—one of the largest in its class—for added practicality.

This thoughtful design makes the Rizta an excellent alternative to petrol-powered scooters for families looking to switch to electric mobility without sacrificing convenience.

Battery Warranty and Charging Support

The new Rizta S 3.7kWh variant is backed by Ather’s strong warranty programme, which includes an 8-year or 80,000-kilometre battery warranty. The company guarantees a minimum of 70% battery health throughout this period, giving peace of mind to long-term users.

Moreover, the scooter is fully compatible with the expanding Ather Grid fast-charging network, which now includes over 3,900 charging locations across India. This widespread accessibility makes charging on-the-go easier and supports Ather’s vision for integrated urban electric mobility.

Bookings Open, Deliveries This Month

The Rizta S 3.7kWh can now be booked online or through Ather’s authorised showrooms. Deliveries are scheduled to begin later this month, allowing customers to get their hands on this upgraded model soon.

With its competitive pricing and well-calibrated features, this launch is expected to further cement Ather’s reputation as one of the most customer-focused EV brands in the country.
