Honda CB1000GT: A Perfect Blend Of Power & Touring Comfort
Honda has unveiled its latest entry into the litre-class touring motorcycle segment — the CB1000GT, a model that builds on the foundations of the CB1000 Hornet while adding long-distance comfort and advanced electronics. Designed for riders who enjoy high-performance touring without compromising agility, the CB1000GT combines a refined inline-four engine, sophisticated suspension and cutting-edge technology in one sleek package. It’s Honda’s response to the growing demand for motorcycles that can thrill on twisty roads and cruise effortlessly on open highways.
Refined Power for Real-World Riding
At the heart of the CB1000GT lies Honda’s 1000cc inline-four, liquid-cooled engine — the same unit that powers the CB1000 Hornet. However, for the GT, engineers have re-tuned it to deliver stronger mid-range performance, making it more suited to touring. The result is slightly lower peak figures at 149.7hp at 11,000rpm and 102Nm of torque at 8,750rpm, but a far broader torque curve that enhances roll-on acceleration. The revised gear ratios further support this focus, ensuring smoother delivery when overtaking or riding two-up with luggage.Touring-Ready Chassis and Comfort Upgrades
For its touring duties, the CB1000GT’s chassis receives a number of structural changes. An extended subframe and longer swingarm create additional space for a pillion rider and panniers, while also improving straight-line stability. The ergonomics have been adjusted for comfort on long rides, with a seat height of 825mm and slightly raised handlebars for a relaxed posture. The motorcycle offers 133mm of ground clearance and a kerb weight of 229kg, figures that balance manageability with solid road presence. You may also like
