Kia’s latest SUV in India, the Syros, has aced the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), earning a full five-star safety rating. With impressive scores in both Adult and Child Occupant Protection, the Syros stands out as one of the safest vehicles in its segment.

BNCAP Safety Results:
The Syros was evaluated in two variants: the HTK (O) manual and the HTX Plus automatic, both powered by the 1.0-litre GDi turbocharged petrol engine. In the crash tests, the SUV demonstrated remarkable resilience in a frontal offset impact at 63.95 km/h, a side impact at 50.17 km/h, and a pole side impact at 29.17 km/h.

Adult Occupant Protection: The Syros scored 30.21 out of 32, with notable protection for the head, neck, chest, and knees in the frontal offset test. It also received a perfect 16/16 in the side impact test, proving its solid safety design.

Child Occupant Protection: Kia’s SUV excelled in child safety, earning 44.42 out of 49 points. The child safety tests involved two dummies (18 months and 3 years) placed in Joie i-Spin 360 rearward-facing seats. The results were outstanding, with both dummies scoring near-perfect in frontal and side impact tests.

Feature-Rich and Safe:
The Syros is loaded with safety features, including six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, and electronic stability control (ESC). It also comes with a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and sensors at both ends.

Engine Options:

Under the hood, the Syros offers two engine choices:

  • A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque.
  • A 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine with 114 bhp and 250 Nm of torque.

With its combination of top-tier safety, practical features, and solid performance, the Kia Syros proves to be a standout in the SUV category.
