Land Rover is turning up the heat on its performance SUV game with the reveal of the Defender Octa Black Edition- a meaner, moodier version of the already powerful Defender Octa. Unveiled globally, this special edition embraces an all-black theme both inside and out, delivering a bold, stealthy presence.
Earlier this year, Land Rover launched the Defender Octa in India at a starting price of ₹2.59 crore (ex-showroom). Now, with the Black Edition, it takes things a step further with over 30 darkened elements including the grille, exhaust tips, tow hooks, underbody parts, and scuff plates - all finished in Narvik Black.

To match its aggressive exterior, buyers can opt for 20- or 22-inch gloss black wheels, paired with black brake calipers that add to its sinister charm.

Inside, the blackout continues. The cabin is draped in Ebony Semi-Aniline leather with Kvadrat fabric - a material first for the Defender lineup. The seats feature new perforation patterns, and buyers can even option chopped carbon fibre trims for the dashboard. Modern touches like a 13.1-inch touchscreen, smoked LED taillamps, and updated LED signatures come as standard.
Under the hood, nothing changes -and that’s a good thing. The SUV is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8, churning out 635 hp and 750 Nm of torque, pushing it from 0–100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds. It also retains its 6D Dynamics suspension and OCTA Mode, tuned for high-speed off-road fun.
After the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition, this marks another step in Land Rover’s “blackout” strategy - and fans are loving it. The Defender Octa Black Edition is expected to arrive in India by late 2025 or early 2026.
