India’s motorsport momentum is picking up pace, not just on screens but now on international tracks too. Riding the wave of growing interest in Formula 1 and electric racing , Mahindra has pulled off a landmark moment-its upcoming all- electric SUV , the BE6, has become the first India-made electric SUV to scale the prestigious London E-Prix circuit .

This milestone marks a proud leap for Indian automotive engineering, as Mahindra shared fresh pictures of the BE6 taking on the track, likely for performance testing or hot laps. With global electric racing gaining traction, this move signals Mahindra’s ambition to showcase its tech prowess on an international platform.

In terms of power, the BE6 isn’t holding back. It will be available with two battery pack options: a 59 kWh unit delivering 227 hp and 380 Nm of torque, and a more powerful 79 kWh unit generating 281 hp. Designed for modern driving needs, the BE6 offers multiple drive modes, including a thrilling "Boost Mode" for those who crave a sportier drive. Charging is equally impressive-thanks to ultra-fast charging technology, the SUV can recharge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes with a fast DC charger.

But Mahindra isn’t stopping at electric alone. The brand is also planning to roll out hybrid variants of the BE6 and its sibling, the XUV.e9. These hybrids will combine the proven 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with a strong hybrid system, designed to balance performance and fuel efficiency. The hybrid setup will allow both engine and motor to operate individually or in unison, depending on the driving conditions.

Looking ahead, Mahindra is preparing to expand the BE6 lineup further. The company has reportedly begun homologation for a third variant-called Pack Three Select-which features the larger 79 kWh battery. Until now, only the smaller 59 kWh battery option was officially known.

With this achievement, Mahindra positions itself not just as a domestic player, but as a serious contender in the global EV space. From racetracks in London to Indian roads, the BE6 represents a new chapter for Indian mobility-smart, sustainable, and now, race-tested.
