Mahindra has just made the Scorpio-N automatic more accessible by introducing the new Z4 AT variant. Priced at ₹17.40 lakh for the petrol and ₹17.86 lakh for the diesel (ex-showroom), the Z4 trim brings the convenience of a 6-speed automatic gearbox at a more wallet-friendly price point.
Until now, automatic transmission was only available from the Z6 diesel (₹18.91 lakh) and Z8 Select petrol (₹19.06 lakh) trims. The Z4 AT undercuts these by ₹1.05 lakh and ₹1.67 lakh respectively, making it a value-packed choice for buyers wanting the ease of an automatic without stretching their budget.
Under the hood, the Scorpio-N offers two robust engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine delivers 203hp and up to 380Nm of torque with the automatic gearbox. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel churns out 132hp and 300Nm with both manual and automatic options. For those opting for a 4WD experience, the Z4 (E) diesel manual variant offers 175hp and 370Nm, though this configuration is not available with the automatic.
In terms of features, the Z4 trim doesn’t skimp. It comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power windows, steering-mounted controls, second-row AC vents, halogen headlamps, LED DRLs, 17-inch wheels with covers, and a rear spoiler.
Safety is well-addressed too, with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill-hold and descent control, ISOFIX mounts, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers.
Bookings are now open at dealerships, and deliveries are expected to start soon. With this move, Mahindra aims to broaden the appeal of the Scorpio-N by combining rugged capability with automatic convenience—at a more inviting price.
