Maruti Suzuki continues its push towards improved safety across its lineup. After recently updating models like the XL6, Baleno, and Ertiga, the company has now added six airbags as standard on all variants of the Fronx compact SUV . This update comes with a marginal price hike of 0.5%, and the Fronx now carries a price tag ranging from ₹7.54 lakh to ₹13.07 lakh (ex-showroom), effective from July 25, 2025.
This move is part of Maruti Suzuki’s earlier commitment, made in April 2025, to introduce six airbags across all models in the coming months. While several models have already received the upgrade, entry-level cars like the Ignis and S-Presso are still awaiting the change.
Before the update, the Fronx offered only dual front airbags as standard. With the new safety update, side and curtain airbags have been added, boosting the total airbag count to six. These changes significantly improve the safety credentials of the Fronx, making it a more appealing option for safety-conscious buyers. The Toyota-badged counterpart, the Urban Cruiser Taisor, is also expected to receive similar updates soon.
Built on the same platform as the Baleno hatchback, the Fronx blends hatchback agility with SUV-like styling. Its design includes a split grille, LED DRLs, a muscular stance, and connected LED taillamps at the rear. Interestingly, the Fronx has recently outsold the Baleno, marking its strong position in the compact SUV segment.
Inside, the cabin features a premium burgundy-and-black interior, highlighted by a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, auto LED headlamps, auto climate control, and a 360-degree camera. Other comforts include cruise control, rear AC vents, Arkamys sound system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a HUD display, and connected car tech.
On the mechanical front, the Fronx offers two engine options:
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, depending on the variant.
With this safety upgrade, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx not only strengthens its value proposition but also raises the bar for safety in the subcompact SUV category — all without making a major dent in its pricing.
