Tata Motors has officially begun nationwide deliveries of its much-anticipated Harrier EV, setting a new standard in India’s premium electric SUV segment. With its modern design, powerful drivetrain options, and a suite of cutting-edge features, the Harrier EV represents a significant leap forward in Tata’s EV ambitions. This marks the brand’s entry into the all-wheel-drive electric space, offering buyers both performance and practicality in one compelling package.

Multiple Powertrain Options To Suit Diverse Preferences

The new Harrier EV is available in six variants, giving buyers flexibility in terms of performance and price. Tata has introduced both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions of the electric SUV. The RWD variants are powered by a single motor delivering 238 hp and come with either a 65 kWh or 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. These models offer a blend of efficiency and everyday usability.

For those seeking more performance, the flagship Empowered AWD variant stands out. It comes with dual motors—one on each axle—producing a combined 313 hp and 504 Nm of torque. This setup not only enhances traction across varied terrains but also gives the SUV a strong performance edge. According to Tata, it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds when Boost mode is activated.

Extended Range Options For Long-Distance Driving

The Harrier EV has been engineered for range-conscious customers. The 75 kWh battery-equipped RWD variant delivers a certified driving range of up to 627 km on a single full charge, while the AWD model achieves up to 622 km under the MIDC cycle. These figures position the Harrier EV among the longest-range electric SUVs currently available in India.

Charging is also designed to be convenient. With a standard 7.2 kW AC charger, the battery takes around 10.7 hours to go from 10 to 100 percent. However, using a 120 kW DC fast charger drastically reduces downtime, enabling the battery to go from 20 to 80 percent in just 25 minutes—ideal for intercity travel and long road trips.

Premium Interiors With Segment-First Features

Inside the cabin, Tata has packed the Harrier EV with premium tech and comfort enhancements. A standout element is the 14.53-inch infotainment display using Samsung’s advanced Neo QLED technology, paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The dashboard design is clean and modern, featuring a touch-sensitive HVAC control panel and an illuminated Tata logo on the steering wheel.

Other key interior highlights include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, ambient lighting, an electronic parking brake, and a ‘Boss Mode’ for enhanced rear-seat comfort. The cabin is further elevated by a 10-speaker JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos 5.1 support, which promises a rich in-car entertainment experience.

True Terrain Capability With Multi-Mode Drive Options

The Harrier EV isn’t just about comfort—it also packs genuine off-road capability. The rotary terrain mode selector allows drivers to choose from six drive modes: Normal, Snow/Grass, Mud-Ruts, Sand, Rock Crawl, and Custom. These settings adapt the vehicle’s power delivery and traction control system to match varying terrain conditions, making the EV equally capable on urban streets and rugged trails.

Adding to the convenience, the SUV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, enhancing its utility for outdoor adventures or emergency scenarios.

Connected Tech Powered By Tata’s New Digital Architecture

The Harrier EV debuts Tata’s newly developed TiDAL (Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer) platform, which brings a suite of connected car features. These include over-the-air (OTA) software updates, smart voice commands, and a comprehensive 540-degree camera system for safer manoeuvring.

One of the headline tech features is DrivePay, a unique contactless payment solution that lets users pay for FASTag tolls and EV charging without needing a smartphone. The system ensures a more seamless driving experience, especially on long highway routes.

Safety Systems Designed For Confidence

Safety remains a top priority in the Harrier EV. The SUV is equipped with seven airbags, electronic stability control, a built-in dashcam, blind spot monitoring, and a 360-degree camera system. Additionally, it includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), offering features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. These additions provide peace of mind whether you’re navigating city traffic or cruising on the highway.

Competitive Pricing With Broad Market Appeal

Tata has strategically priced the Harrier EV to cater to a wide customer base. The RWD versions start from ₹21.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end AWD Empowered variant is priced at ₹28.99 lakh. Buyers can also customise their EV experience further with optional accessories, including AC fast charger installation packages, available at an additional cost.

With its powerful electric drivetrain, expansive feature list, and advanced connected technology, the Tata Harrier EV sets a new benchmark for homegrown electric SUVs in India. As deliveries commence across the country, Tata has once again underscored its position as a leader in the Indian EV market, offering an impressive blend of innovation, comfort, and performance.
