TVS Motor Company has introduced the latest iteration of its popular performance commuter, the 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V, in India. Priced at ₹1.34 lakh (ex-showroom), the new model brings essential upgrades to meet the latest regulatory standards and also adds new safety and tech features, making it a compelling option in its segment. The refreshed motorcycle is now up for bookings across dealerships and online platforms, with deliveries expected to commence shortly.

OBD-2B Ready and Safer Than Before

One of the standout updates for the 2025 model is its compliance with OBD-2B (On-Board Diagnostics Stage 2B) emission norms, ensuring the Apache remains future-ready in terms of environmental regulations. In addition, dual-channel ABS has now been added—a feature rarely seen in this price bracket—providing enhanced braking stability and better control, especially in emergency situations or wet road conditions.

This marks a significant leap in safety equipment for the Apache RTR 160 2V, which now becomes one of the few motorcycles in its class to offer this feature.

Refreshed Looks With Minimal Design Changes

Visually, the new Apache retains its aggressive styling cues that have made it a popular choice among young riders. Though the design language remains largely the same, red-painted alloy wheels have been introduced, giving it a sportier flair. It continues to feature:

  • Sharp LED headlamp with integrated DRLs

  • Sculpted fuel tank and split seat layout

  • Blacked-out exhaust with a stylish heat shield

  • LED tail light with a clean, sporty tail section

  • Flush-mounted turn indicators and edgy tank extensions

  • Customers can now choose between two bold paint options—Matte Black and Pearl White—each designed to enhance its street presence.

    Packed With Smart Connectivity

The 2025 RTR 160 2V also retains its TVS SmartXonnect suite via a fully digital instrument cluster. The system brings smartphone connectivity features such as:

    • Turn-by-turn navigation

    • Voice assist

    • Call and SMS alerts

  • Crash detection and notifications

  • These features transform the riding experience by merging convenience and safety with modern-day tech—a big win for tech-savvy commuters and touring enthusiasts.

    Suspension and Braking Upgrades

The suspension system remains robust with telescopic front forks and gas-charged rear shock absorbers, tuned for a balance of comfort and performance. For braking, the bike is equipped with a 270mm front disc, while the rear gets either a 130mm drum or 200mm disc, depending on the variant selected.

It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels paired with a 90/90 front tyre. The rear wheel gets a 110/80 tyre for most variants, while the Disc BT version comes with a wider 120/70 section rear tyre, improving corner grip and visual appeal.

Proven Engine With Smooth Power Delivery

Under the tank, the 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V continues with its trusted 159.7cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve air-cooled engine. The power output stands at 15.82 bhp and 13.85 Nm of torque, delivered through a 5-speed gearbox. This engine is well-known for its smooth throttle response, strong mid-range performance, and reliability, making it suitable for both city rides and occasional highway runs.

A Practical Update With a Focus on Everyday Riders

The 2025 Apache RTR 160 2V isn’t about reinventing the wheel—it’s about refining an already successful package. By adding dual-channel ABS and SmartXonnect, TVS has enhanced both the safety quotient and technological appeal of the motorcycle. Combined with compliance to the latest emission norms, this updated Apache is tailor-made for riders seeking style, safety, and modern features without breaking the bank.
