Yamaha Motor India has rolled out a refreshed version of its popular street-naked motorcycle, the MT-15, bringing in the 2025 edition with updated tech, eye-catching colours, and enhanced rider connectivity. Priced starting at ₹1.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the MT-15 Version 2.0 now offers a more premium riding experience while retaining its mechanical DNA. With rising demand for connected features and bold styling, Yamaha’s latest upgrade aims to appeal to the growing base of young, urban riders in the country.

Dual Variants Cater To Diverse Riders

The newly introduced MT-15 Version 2.0 is being offered in two variants. The base Version 2.0 STD comes at a price tag of ₹1.69 lakh, while the slightly more premium Version 2.0 DLX is priced at ₹1.80 lakh (both ex-showroom). This allows Yamaha to target different segments of customers—those looking for core performance as well as those wanting added visual and digital sophistication.

New Colours Add Fresh Street Appeal

In terms of aesthetics, Yamaha has introduced three new shades that are designed to stand out in city traffic. The new colour palette includes Metallic Silver Cyan, Vivid Violet Metallic, and Ice Storm. These youthful and contemporary options align with Yamaha’s aim to make the MT-15 more attractive to the next generation of riders looking for a machine that combines both functionality and personality.

Advanced TFT Display Enhances Rider Connectivity

One of the most notable updates in the 2025 model is the introduction of a new colour TFT (Thin Film Transistor) instrument cluster. This digital panel not only modernises the cockpit but also adds meaningful utility by offering turn-by-turn navigation. The feature is enabled through Yamaha’s proprietary Y-Connect mobile application, which connects the rider’s smartphone to the bike via Bluetooth.

With this integration, riders can access real-time data such as fuel efficiency, last parking location, and even receive notifications about any system malfunctions. This marks a significant step forward in merging smart features with the riding experience, a trend that is becoming increasingly important in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Chassis And Suspension Stay True To Performance Roots

Although the tech and visuals have been updated, Yamaha has retained the MT-15’s tried-and-tested mechanical setup. Built on the Deltabox frame, the bike features 37 mm USD (upside-down) front forks and a linked-type rear monoshock. This suspension setup aims to provide a balanced combination of sharp handling and everyday comfort.

The 17-inch alloy wheels remain standard, fitted with disc brakes at both the front and rear, ensuring reliable stopping power. The overall design continues to reflect the aggressive and minimalist styling that defines the MT series globally.

No Mechanical Changes To Powertrain

The heart of the MT-15 Version 2.0 remains unchanged, with Yamaha opting to retain the existing 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It delivers a peak power output of 18.4 bhp and a torque of 14.1 Nm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and is known for its peppy performance and refined delivery, making it suitable for both city rides and occasional weekend outings.

This powertrain setup ensures that despite its visual and technological upgrades, the MT-15 remains grounded in performance—continuing to serve as an entry-level performance bike for budding enthusiasts.

Yamaha Confirms Strong Focus On Rider Expectations

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Itaru Otani, Chairman of Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, “The MT-15 Version 2.0 has carved a strong identity in the street-naked segment with its aggressive styling, performance-oriented engineering, and everyday versatility. Ever since we introduced the colour TFT Display with Turn-By-Turn Navigation feature on the popular R15M, we received consistent demand from MT-15 customers for similar advancements. The 2025 update reflects our commitment to addressing these expectations—with advanced features and new youthful colours that enhance both visual appeal and rider engagement. With these updates, Yamaha continues to deliver motorcycles that resonate with young, dynamic riders seeking a balance of thrill and practicality.”

Bookings Now Open Nationwide

The updated MT-15 Version 2.0 is now available for bookings. Customers can reserve the motorcycle online or by visiting Yamaha dealerships across India. With its upgraded appeal, the bike is expected to draw strong interest from first-time buyers as well as those looking to upgrade from smaller displacement models.

The combination of modern features, fresh design elements and proven performance is likely to position the MT-15 as a compelling option in the 150cc to 200cc segment. Yamaha’s emphasis on rider-friendly innovation and consistent branding continues to strengthen its foothold in India's competitive motorcycle market.
