The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised the Aadhaar update charges , making it costlier for residents to update personal information. From October 1, 2025, the new fee structure applies to demographic, biometric, and document-related changes, effective until September 30, 2028. Here’s everything you need to know.

New Aadhaar Update Fees : What Has Changed

UIDAI has increased the cost of updating various Aadhaar details , impacting residents who wish to correct their information. The updated charges are as follows:

1. Demographic Updates

  • Includes: Name, address, date of birth, mobile number, email
  • Fee: Rs 75 if updated separately (previously Rs 50)
  • Tip: No additional charge if combined with biometric updates

2. Biometric Updates

  • Includes: Fingerprint, iris scan, and photograph
  • Fee: Rs 125 (will rise to Rs 150 in October 2028)

3. Document Updates

  • Includes: Proof of identity or address
  • Online via myAadhaar portal: Free till June 14, 2026
  • At enrolment centres: Rs 75 (previously Rs 50)

4. Aadhaar Printouts

Cost via eKYC or other tools: Rs 40 in the first phase, rising to Rs 50 in the second

Free Biometric Updates for Children

To encourage timely updates, UIDAI has introduced free biometric updates for children in specific age groups:

  • Ages 5-7 & 15-17: First mandatory biometric update is free
  • Ages 7-15: Fee waived until September 30, 2026 (normally Rs 125)

This ensures that children’s Aadhaar details remain accurate without any financial burden on parents.

Home Enrolment Charges

For residents unable to visit Aadhaar centres, home enrolment services are available:

  • Cost per visit: Rs 700 (including GST)
  • Additional residents at the same address: Rs 350 each

Home enrolment provides convenience for elderly, differently-abled, or busy residents who cannot visit enrolment centres.

What These Changes Mean for Aadhaar Holders

With these revisions, most Aadhaar update services have become more expensive. While children continue to benefit from free updates at specific stages, adult residents should budget for higher fees when updating demographic, biometric, or document information.

Key Takeaways:

  • Plan ahead for Aadhaar updates to avoid unnecessary costs
  • Combine updates where possible to save money
  • Utilize online services for document updates when eligible

Keeping your Aadhaar details accurate is essential, and knowing the updated charges helps you manage the process efficiently.
