Samsung's starting laptop production in Greater Noida is a big step for India’s growth as a tech hub. It supports the “Make in India” mission, creates jobs, and shows the world that India can make high-quality electronics. With popular products like the Galaxy Z Fold7 and strong government support, India’s future in manufacturing looks bright. Let’s celebrate this milestone and look forward to more “Made in India” success!

Samsung’s New Step in India

Samsung has been making smartphones, feature phones, wearables, and tablets at its Greater Noida factory for years. Now, it has added laptops to the list. This is exciting because it shows Samsung trusts India to produce high-tech products. The factory, located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, is one of Samsung’s biggest production hubs globally, second only to its main base in South Korea.

Why This Matters for Make in India

The “Make in India” program, started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014, aims to make India a global manufacturing leader. Samsung’s decision to make laptops in India supports this goal by:
  • Creating Jobs: The factory employs thousands of workers, and adding laptops will create even more jobs.
  • Reducing Imports: Making laptops in India means fewer need to be imported, saving money for the country.
  • Boosting Exports: Samsung plans to sell these “Made in India” laptops worldwide, helping India earn more from exports.
India’s electronics production has grown a lot, from $31 billion in 2014 to $133 billion in 2025. Samsung’s laptop production is part of this success story.

Galaxy Z Fold7: A Hit Across India

Along with laptops, Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold7 smartphone, also made in India, is a huge success. Raju Pullan, a senior Samsung official, said the phone is in high demand not just in big cities but also in smaller towns (Tier 3 and Tier 4 areas). Some stores even ran out of stock because so many people wanted it! This shows how much Indians love high-tech products made in their own country.

Government Support and Growth

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw praised Samsung for making advanced technology in India. He said the company has over 7,000 engineers working in its research unit in India, creating new ideas and products. The government has helped by making it easier for companies to set up factories and offering support through schemes like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) program. This has led to a huge jump in electronics exports, which grew 47% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to last year.

A Bright Future for India

Samsung’s Noida factory is a shining example of “Make in India.” Since 2018, it has been called the world’s largest mobile factory, producing millions of phones each year. Adding laptops to the mix makes it even more important. India now has over 300 mobile manufacturing units, up from just two in 2014, showing how far the country has come.
