27 injured as govt bus overturns

Madurai: Twenty-seven passengers suffered minor injuries after a govt bus overturned near Murugananthapuram in Tirunelveli district on Saturday.

Officials said around 60 passengers were travelling in the bus from Tiruchendur to Nagercoil. When it reached the Murugananthapuram area near Koodankulam, the driver suddenly lost control over the vehicle which overturned on the roadside.

Soon after, ambulances, fire and rescue personnel, and police rushed to the spot and rescued the passengers. The injured passengers were sent to the Koodankulam GH.

The Koodankulam police registered a case and are investigating.
