What started as a suspicion of romance turned into a revelation that left an entire family stunned. A Delhi University student’s parents, convinced their daughter was secretly dating someone, decided to hire a private investigator to confirm their fears. But the truth they uncovered was something they could never have imagined.

Private investigator Tanya Puri, who later revealed the incident on her podcast, shared how the case unfolded. For the first few days, her team shadowed the girl but found nothing unusual - no secret meetings, no suspicious behaviour. Then, after three or four days of discreet tracking, they followed her to GTB Nagar. There, instead of meeting a boyfriend, she entered an area notorious for its brothels.

The Real Reason Behind the Visits

When confronted, it emerged that the student wasn’t there for relationships, but for money. She had been working at the brothel to fund a lifestyle she couldn’t otherwise afford - buying branded clothes, attending expensive parties, and keeping up with her college friends.

A Divided Internet

The case quickly sparked heated debate on social media. Some defended religious leader Aniruddhacharya’s controversial comments about “loose morals” among young women, saying this was proof. Others were quick to criticise the parents, calling them hypocrites. “Parents had money to hire a detective but not to give their daughter for shopping?” wrote one user. Another added, “Why not just talk to your children instead of spying?”

Not an Isolated Case

Several users claimed this wasn’t rare. One shared a similar story about a friend who met men on dating apps, lured them into hotel rooms, and used them to pay for her shopping. “My ex-friend lures men from dating apps, meets them in hotels, and uses them for shopping money.”

The incident has opened up conversations about parental communication, societal pressures, and the growing trend of young people taking extreme measures to chase luxury - even at the cost of their safety and dignity.
