Homebase announces new UK opening in November as it brings back limited range
Homebase has announced the opening of a brand new garden centre in the UK this month as it brings back a limited range across its stores. Over the past year, the DIY and garden retailer has opened more than 200 'Garden Centre's by Homebase' inside The Range stores after collapsing into administration at the end of 2024.
Homebase blamed a decline in consumer confidence and spending post-pandemic for the collapse and was forced to call in administrators last November before striking a deal with retail group CDS, which owns The Range, which saved 70 stores. Rival DIY chain B&Q also took control of five branches and a further four have been transformed into Wickes.
As part of its ongoing openings inside The Range superstores, Homebase has confirmed another new garden centre will open to customers later this month.
The retailer said the new centre will be based at Oldbury Green Retail Park in the West Midlands and will open its doors on Friday, November 14.
Coinciding with the new opening is the return of real Christmas trees across Homebase stores, just in time for the festive season. Homebase said it will receive brand new stock from mid-November to December, with shoppers able to choose from three different real Christmas tree varieties as part of the limited edition range for 2025.
Announcing the news in a post on Facebook, Homebase said: "BIG NEWS, Oldbury! We're growing something exciting... A brand new & exclusive 'Garden Centres by Homebase' is opening at Oldbury Green Retail Park next Friday 14th November, in the former Homebase unit!

The Christmas tree varieties included in the 2025 range include Norman Fir Fir, Fraser Fir and Noble Fir, which will be available alongside a selection of stands and accessories for decoration.
Homebase said its real Christmas trees are all premium grade and sustainably homegrown in the UK, and have been hand selected for superior shape, colour and festive scent. The retailer added that its Christmas tree varieties "are grown to last longer".
Homebase said: "Christmas is SAVED! While the headlines talk tree shortages, we're here to spread festive cheer with a fresh batch of beautiful real trees - arriving from mid-November through to December, just in time to deck your halls. Here's what's landing soon:
