Prayagraj: The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Allahabad, has launched an e-MTech programme in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science starting Jan 2026. According to the department of information technology, this programme is designed for BTech graduates who wish to pursue higher education without quitting their jobs.

Both coursework and practicals will be conducted fully online, making it easier for professionals to balance their work and studies. The programme will admit a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 150 students.

To secure admission, applicants will be required to submit a company-issued work experience certificate along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.

The institute has made it clear that although the programme will admit a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 150 students, in case of higher applications, interviews may also be conducted for selection. Classes will take place primarily on weekends—Saturdays and Sundays—with additional sessions on Friday evenings if needed. All lab work will be conducted using advanced online tools linked to modern technology-based laboratories, eliminating the need for students to visit the campus physically.

IIIT-Allahabad's department of management will also roll out an e-MBA programme, with preparations already completed. Similar to the e-MTech, MBA classes will be conducted entirely online, ensuring professionals can study alongside their career commitments.

The fee structure for the e-MTech course has been prepared and will be implemented upon approval by the finance committee. According to Manish Kumar, head of the IT department at IIIT-Allahabad, this initiative is expected to help working professionals advance their careers while gaining expertise in emerging fields like AI and Data Science.
