The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, warning of very heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Residents have been asked to avoid flood-prone zones and stay indoors as conditions remain critical.

According to the Maharashtra Disaster Management Department, six people have lost their lives in the past 24 hours due to rain and flood-related incidents across the state.
