As heavy rain swept through Delhi on Tuesday morning, several airlines sounded the alarm, urging travelers to brace for delays and longer commutes. The downpour, coupled with gusty winds, disrupted normalcy in parts of the capital and led to waterlogged roads.

Airlines Ask Flyers to Plan Ahead

Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet issued travel advisories early Tuesday, warning of possible disruptions. Air India stated that gusty winds and rain could impact flight operations and advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. IndiGo’s Rainy Day Reminder

IndiGo added a thoughtful touch, calling its update a “Rainy Day Reminder.” The airline asked customers to allow extra time to reach the airport, citing heavy rainfall and slower traffic. “Travel Advisory A Rainy Day Reminder — With heavy rainfall expected over #Delhi, we’re seeing a chance of delays and slower traffic to and from the airport. While we can’t control the skies, we’re doing everything possible to keep your journey steady on the ground. SpiceJet Warns of Delays in Delhi and Dharamshala

SpiceJet extended its caution to flights in both Delhi and Dharamshala. The airline noted that all departures, arrivals, and related flights might face delays, urging passengers to stay updated through their website. The airline wrote, “#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL) and Dharamshala (DHM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via http://spicejet.com/#status.”

IMD Forecast: More Rain on the Way

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that rain could intensify by afternoon. The regional Met Centre forecasts generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall continuing until August 3.
