Delhi Police have arrested a 39-year-old man from Hauz Qazi for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother twice. The accused shockingly claimed he was “punishing” her for a relationship she allegedly had in the past.

According to officials, the woman approached Hauz Qazi police station with her 25-year-old daughter and filed a written complaint detailing the assaults. The family, which includes the victim’s husband, a retired government employee, their younger daughter, and the accused, had recently returned from a religious trip to Saudi Arabia.

The complaint reveals disturbing details. On July 17, the woman, her husband, and younger daughter had travelled abroad, leaving the accused behind. During this time, he allegedly called his father, pressuring him to return immediately and demanding that he divorce his wife. He accused his mother of having illicit relationships during his childhood.

After the family returned on August 1, the accused allegedly locked his mother in a room, forced her to remove her burqa, and beat her, saying she had “spoiled” him when he was young. Distressed, the woman left home and took refuge at her elder married daughter’s house but returned ten days later.

On August 11, the accused again isolated his mother under the pretext of speaking to her privately. He allegedly raped her that night, claiming it was punishment for her "past relationships." Just three days later, in the early hours of August 14, he assaulted her again.

Shaken and traumatised, the woman confided in her younger daughter, who urged her to go to the police. The two then approached Hauz Qazi police station and lodged a detailed complaint.

Police registered a case under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and arrested the accused. Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway and further proceedings are in progress.
