Shocking Video From Punjab: Daughter-in-Law Assaults Elderly Mother-in-Law
A disturbing video from Gurdaspur, Punjab, has gone viral, showing a daughter-in-law physically abusing her elderly mother-in-law in front of her son. In the footage, the victim pleads repeatedly with her son while being slapped, hit with a glass, and verbally abused.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday. Family sources say it escalated after Harjeet Kaur caught her mother-in-law recording one of her outbursts.
In her police complaint, widow Gurbachan Kaur accused her daughter-in-law of long-term physical and mental harassment, including pressure to transfer family property into her name. She said the abuse worsened after her husband, a retired Block Primary Education Officer, passed away four months ago.
The assault was partially recorded by Gurbachan’s grandson, Charatvir Singh, who claimed his mother frequently assaults both his grandmother and father. Despite informing the police, he says only a warning was issued. He has demanded strict legal action.
Punjab State Commission for Women Chairperson Raj Gill confirmed that a suo motu notice has been issued. Old helpless mother was beaten up by the daughter in law in Gurdaspur .
