A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Ghaziabad, where a young woman was caught on CCTV brutally assaulting her elderly mother-in-law inside their home. The disturbing footage, dated July 1, has sparked outrage online.
The video begins with an argument between the woman, identified as Akanksha, and her mother-in-law. Akanksha, seen returning with two small bags, quickly loses her temper. Her own mother, also present at the scene, records the altercation on her mobile phone instead of intervening.
The argument escalates when the elderly woman notices she’s being filmed and tries to snatch the phone. At that moment, Akanksha steps in and slaps her mother-in-law. What follows is a shocking display of violence—Akanksha pushes the elderly woman down, repeatedly hits her on the head, and throws her to the floor.
As the mother-in-law tries to flee and knocks on a nearby door for help, Akanksha grabs her hand, pins her to a wall, and forcefully pulls her down the stairs. In the process, the elderly woman’s slippers come off, which Akanksha aggressively kicks away before dragging her inside the house as the door opens.
According to police, Akanksha is a software engineer working from home, while her husband, Antariksh, also in the same profession, works in Gurugram. The couple has been married for two and a half years.
Following the circulation of the footage, a case was registered at Kavi Nagar Police Station. An investigation is underway, and officials say appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
This horrifying case has once again brought the spotlight on domestic abuse behind closed doors—and the disturbing role bystanders sometimes play by simply watching or filming instead of helping.
