A deadly cloudburst struck Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Tuesday, triggering fierce flash floods that claimed at least four lives with the toll feared to rise. The disaster hit Dharali village, where powerful visuals now circulating online show people fleeing for their lives as roaring waters swallowed roads, homes, and hopes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also responded, saying he spoke with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and assured that relief and rescue efforts are being carried out with full force. “Under the supervision of the state government, relief and rescue teams are engaged in every possible effort. No stone is being left unturned in providing assistance to the people,” the PM posted on X.

The high-altitude village of Dharali bore the brunt of the cloudburst.
