A shocking incident unfolded in Ghaziabad’s upscale Amrapali Village Society, Indirapuram, where a domestic help was bitten by a pet dog inside the residential complex. The episode, caught on CCTV, has stirred debates on pet responsibility and public safety.

The Incident Caught on Camera

At 7:13 pm on Tuesday, a couple entered a lift with their pet dog. In the footage, the woman can be seen gesturing as if to slap the dog. As soon as the lift doors opened, the animal rushed out and bit Kalpana, a domestic help working in CM Tower of the society.

Victim Left in Pain, No Help Offered

While Kalpana cried out in agony, the man quickly retrieved his dog back into the lift but shockingly did not stop to assist the injured woman. Instead, the couple re-entered the lift. The woman was again seen gesturing to hit the dog, even blocking its way to prevent it from running out again.

Society Lobby Turns Disturbing Scene

CCTV footage from the lobby shows Kalpana visibly in pain, crying after the bite, while no immediate help appeared to come from the dog owners. The lack of empathy in handling the situation has triggered anger among residents and netizens alike.

Why This Case Draws Bigger Attention

The timing of the incident coincides with an ongoing debate around the Supreme Court’s recent directive on stray dogs in Delhi-NCR. On August 11, a bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan ordered that stray dogs be relocated to shelters within eight weeks, warning strict action against anyone obstructing the move.

A Divided Debate

Animal lovers strongly protested the ruling, while many residents supported the move citing frequent bite cases. Last week, another bench led by Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta, and NV Anjaria heard pleas to stay the directive, reserving its order.

Though this Ghaziabad case involves a pet dog, not a stray, it highlights the pressing need for responsible ownership, strict safety rules in housing societies, and compassion in handling such incidents.
