Bengaluru, India’s undisputed start-up hub, has given the world Swiggy, Zepto, Dunzo and now, a service that takes convenience to a whole new level. A start-up called Snabbit is making waves for letting people hire help for the tiniest of household chores, including chopping vegetables.
A recent viral Instagram video perfectly sums up this 'peak Bengaluru' moment. In it, a man relaxes on his couch while a woman, hired through Snabbit, chops veggies for dinner. His roommate explains the arrangement: one cooked, the other prepped. But instead of picking up the knife, the roommate outsourced it through the app.
Snabbit positions itself as a one-stop platform for everyday needs from groceries and errands to household help pushing the boundaries of what urban residents can outsource. And while some found the vegetable-chopping service amusing, others see it as a reflection of the city’s obsession with saving time.
Social media reactions have been a mix of applause and criticism. Many hailed the idea as genius, calling it the perfect example of Bengaluru’s 'time is money' culture. Memes poured in, with users joking that soon you could hire one person to turn on the stove and another to stir the curry.
But not everyone is laughing. Critics argue that such services trivialize human labour. One pointed comment read: “Human resources are the most expensive asset. Instead of utilizing time to grow, people are outsourcing even the smallest chores for meagre pay.”
Love it or hate it, Snabbit has once again proved that in Bengaluru, no task is too small to be turned into a start-up opportunity.
